INTRODUCTION

I'm Scott Day and I'm an advocate for people with disabilities. On September 8, 1960 I was born in a hospital in Indianapolis, IN, where during the delivery my brain was denied oxygen. This has given me a condition called Cerebral Palsy. This has affected me in many ways over my life but the main one is that my muscles are tight all over my body. This is the inner physical monster that I’ve had to deal with. I was born at 2 lbs. 11 oz. I fit in the palm of my mother’s hand and the doctors told her not to get used to me because I wouldn’t live more than 24 hours. I proved them wrong. I now have a college education, I drive, and I’m a motivational speaker. Please meet Scott Day. With this blog/website I intend to do my best to educate the public, not just on how to communicate with people who are disabled/differently abled. I will also be helping to try to communicate to people, young and old, on how to deal with the ups and downs of life. This will be through the eyes of someone that has endured many years of ridicule, and also a lot of physical pain. This is what has made my Road so roughly traveled. That road gets a little smoother when I’m up on that stage or meeting room, talking to a group of people. The time that helps my heart the best is when I’m talking to individuals, especially young people, one on one. , I will also show you how to overcome things that we must deal with in life because I have almost never let anything stop me. I will be writing daily to weekly blogs about things that I have been observed going on in the world around me. Subjects that that I think will help and uplift people. It is my intention in the future to be able to let other people with different abilities/disabilities, depending on how old they are, to share their stories. If you have a family member, friend or agency that helps you with your life please include a little bit about them.
